The Chheharta police have arrested a drug peddler with Rs 2.64 lakh drug money, contraband and an electronic weighing scale. He was identified as Harbhajan Singh, alias Raja, a resident of Guru Ki Wadali area.

Besides the alleged drug money, the police recovered 10gm heroin, a scale and also impounded his scooter from the spot. A case under the NDPS Act was registered against him.

ASI Kanwaljit Kaur said she along with a police party was manning a check-point near Dera Baba Darshan Singh and checking vehicles when they intercepted Harbhajan Singh who was travelling on a scooter. He tried to secretly throw a pouch from his pocket, but was arrested by the police.

During a search, which was videographed, the police seized the contraband and the drug money from his possession.
