The Amritsar Municipal Corporation on Tuesday continued its cleanliness campaign, covering the area from Ram Talai Chowk to City Centre. As part of the drive, various departments of the municipal corporation carried out multiple tasks, including cleaning of roads, removal of illegal encroachments, civil maintenance works and pulling down unauthorised advertisement boards.

Association member Jasbir Singh Bhattian said there had been a long-standing issue of sewer blockage in the City Centre area, which has now been permanently resolved by the municipal corporation. He said sewer work is under way on the road leading from City Centre to Darbar Sahib. He welcomed the operation being conducted from the Golden Gate to Darbar Sahib as part of the city-wide beautification campaign.

Additional Municipal Commissioner Surinder Singh said the drive has received a positive response from city residents. Many religious, business and social organisations have approached the MC to support the campaign and contribute to the city’s cleanliness.

He said the campaign would continue across all parts of the city, emphasizing that such efforts can only succeed if every citizen takes responsibility to keep the city clean and green. He appealed to residents to cooperate with the MC to maintain cleanliness.
