Kiranjit Singh, (32) a farm labourer and a resident of Kakka Kandiala village, six kilometers from here, died of sky lightning today at his native village. The local city police have registered a report under Section 174 of the CrPC. Gurwinder Singh, Sarpanch of the village, said Kiranjit Singh, along with two other farm labourers, was planting paddy in the fields when there lightning struck Kiranjit Singh. He died on the spot.

The other two labourers had a narrow escape. The post mortem was conducted at the local civil hospital.
