Tasbeer Singh, a farmer from Buraj village, was booked for burning paddy straw in his fields on Saturday. Assitant sub-inspector Gursahib Singh said the farmer burnt paddy straw on his two acres land.

The Sarai Amanat Khan police was informed by Gurmeet Singh, cluster in-charge, Gandiwind block, about burning of crop residue by the farmer. Punjab Agriculture University, Ludhiana, had informed Gurmeet about paddy straw being set on fire by the farmer. The farmer was booked under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
