The farmer organisations under the Sanyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) gathered on Saturday at the local Gandhi Municipal Park and strongly condemned the police and the Punjab government for torturing the farmer leaders and computer teachers who wanted to meet Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Friday. The Chief Minister was in Tarn Taran to accompany AAP candidate Harmeet Singh Sandhu for filing his nomination papers for the Tarn Taran Assembly by-election. The farmers and computers teachers were moving forward when the police stopped them which led to a scuffle.

Speaking on the occasion, Daljit Singh Dayalpur, Tarsem Singh Luhar, Nachhattar Singh Mughalchak, Amritpal Singh Joura, Sarwan Singh Chung and other leaders of the agitating organisations demanded that the promises made to the farmers and teachers should be fulfilled. They also strongly condemned the police and the Punjab government for torturing the farmer leaders and computer teachers who wanted to meet Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann.

The farmer leaders threatened to stage a stir against candidate in different villages during the Tarn Taran Assembly by-election. The leaders demanded that strict action should be taken against the police officers who scuffled with the farmers and computer teachers on Friday.

The farmer leaders warned that the government should stop selling government departments and the services of computer teachers should be made permanent in the Education Department. The farmers demanded that

the proposal to sell the Co-operative Sugar Mill, Sheron, should be rejected and the mill restarted
