Farmers and labourers under the banner of the Sanyukt Kisan Morcha (Non-Political) and Kisan Mazdoor Morcha will celebrate the Parkash Purb of Guru Gobind Singh at the Shambu border on Monday. The event will take place as part of the ongoing agitation, which has been continuing for the past 11 months, demanding the resolution of farmers’ and laborers’ issues.

Sarwan Singh Pandher, coordinator of the SKM (Non-Political), criticised the Centre for its apathy towards the demands of the agitating farmers. Addressing a gathering during the Antim Ardas of Nambardar Baldev Singh (75), father of Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee leader Harpreet Singh Sidhwan, Pandher accused the government of being indifferent to the plight of the farming community.

The Antim Ardas was held at Gurudwara Singh Sabha, Pandori Sidhwan, where the Ragi Jatha recited hymns from Guru Granth Sahib for the peace of the departed soul.

Pandher highlighted the deteriorating health condition of farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal, who is on a hunger strike unto death. He urged the Centre to take immediate steps to address the demands of the farmers and labourers, warning that the agitation would intensify otherwise.

The agitating groups have announced plans to burn effigies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on December 10 across the country. Meanwhile, they will celebrate the Parkash Purb of the tenth Sikh Guru, Guru Gobind Singh, at the Shambu Morcha on Monday.

Pandher urged farmers and labourers to gather in large numbers at the protest sites to save the life of Dallewal and continue the struggle for their demands. He reiterated that the agitating sections are determined not to return home without achieving their objectives.

Other leaders, including Sukhwinder Singh Sabhra, state president of the Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee, and Satnam Singh Panun, also addressed the gathering and expressed solidarity with the movement.

The leaders called for unity and strength in their fight against injustice and emphasised the need for continued support to sustain the movement.
