Amritsar, November 25

Members of the Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee (KMSC) have given a call for holding a protest outside Buttar Sugar Mill from December 1 if their sugarcane dues were not paid. Leaders of the KMSC said if their demands were not met, they would stop rail operations in the state from December 3.

Sarwan Singh Pandher, general secretary of the committee, said they were protesting for their demands for a long. Their main demands were compensation of Rs 40,000 per acre for farmers whose crops were damaged. He said sugarcane farmers were being harassed by sugar mill owners for not releasing their payments.
