A fire broke out in a timber factory on Sultanwind Road here this afternoon. However, no loss of life was reported in the incident. Timber worth lakhs of rupees was destroyed in the fire. A fire tender reached the spot and doused the fire. The firemen prevented the spread of the fire.

Meanwhile, a fire also broke out at the Bhagtanwala garbage dump. Owing to the scorching heat, the Bhagtanwala garbage dump often catches fire. The solid waste management company claimed that methane gas, emitted from the garbage dump, leads to fire in this hot weather.

Generally, a fire tender is often parked alongside the garbage dump by the MC’s fire department. This morning the fire tender was not available. Fire officials claimed that the fire tenders were sent to other sites, where a fire broke out in residential areas. As soon as the information about the fire in the dump was received, the fire tender was sent to the dumping ground immediately and it succeeded in controlling the fire.
