Former MLA of the Congress party Amit Vij today lauded the Army action taken by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and asked him to draft a special policy for industries that are located in a range of 100 km from the international border.

Addressing a press conference here today, Vij urged the PM to give incentives to industrial units located near the international border (IB).

“Tuesday night’s attacks have had a big impact on people living near the border. Pathankot district also shares its border with Pakistan which is near Bamiyal village. Industrial units located in Pathankot need to be revitalised in wake of the attack. I request the Union Government to let the industry located near the border function without having to give taxes for the next 10 years,” said Vij.

He added that Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh had already given massive tax doses to the industry following which many units had shifted to these two states.

“Border area residents are happy that India has given a befitting reply to Pakistan. Having said that, I would also like to state that industry in the border area, particularly in Pathankot, always suffers during such attacks. I, therefore, request the Prime Minister to give incentives to businessmen who have their units in Pathankot and its satellite towns.”
