Online fraudsters cheated two local residents and withdrew huge amount from their bank accounts in separate incidents. The incidents came to light when the victims reported the matter to the police.

On their complaints, the police have booked four West Bangal residents for fraud. They were identified as Abdul Gazi, Chander Beera, Mujpar Sardar and Shamsher Maudal.

Naveen Kumar stated to the police that on October 5, he bought gas stove through his Paytm account and three days later he checked the status and found that the parcel had reached Amritsar. However, it was not delivered to him due to some discrepancy at the address.

Naveen said later he searched the internet and found details of three offices with contact numbers. When he contacted at one of its numbers, the person on other side gave a link for delivery. He said when he clicked the link many unauthorised transactions to the tune of Rs 1 lakh were made from his account. Following preliminary probe, the police booked Gazi, Beera and Sardar.

In the second incident, online fraudsters withdrew Rs 3.16 lakh from the account of Aman Chadda. The case was registered following a probe by the police. In this case the police have booked Shamsher Maudal.
