Four fake travel agents booked in two cheating cases

Those booked were identified as Malkeet Singh and his father Sawinder Singh, both residents of Padhri village here. No arrest has been made till now.
Sajjan Singh, a resident of Sattunangal village in Ajnala, had lodged a complaint with the police in November last year. However, a case was registered following a probe by an Assistant Commissioner of Police, besides taking a legal opinion from the district attorney.
He alleged that the accused defrauded him of over Rs 44 lakhs on the pretext of sending him to foreign shores. He said he was not the only victim. The accused had cheated many others like him.
The Assistant Commissioner of Police, Jaspal Singh, said efforts were on to arrest the father-son duo and a case under Sections 420 and 120-B of the IPC and Section 13 of the Punjab Travel Professional and Regulation Act was registered against them.
Similarly, the Chheharta police have booked Mandeep Singh of Amarkot village in Tarn Taran and Rahul Sharma of Ghakal village in Jalandhar for allegedly duping Lovepreet Singh and Gursewak Singh of Ghanupur Kale for sending them abroad. No arrest was made in this case also.
