Chief Khalsa Diwan (CKD) has offered free education for the Afghan-origin children who would be evacuated from Afghanistan amid trouble due to the return of Taliban to power. Nirmal Singh, president of CKD, has announced free of cost education to the wards of Sikh refugees, who would come to settle here.

He called upon the Narendra Modi-led government to swiftly evacuate Sikh families from uncertain condition prevailing in Afghanistan. He said the reports of Sikh families residing in a gurdwara near Kabul showed the fear being felt at the change of ruling dispensation through violent means. This fear did not even spare their own natives, who were compelled to board a closed plane. He appealed to the government to evacuate the Sikh families to safer places to ensure their safety.
