Gangster Bikramjit Singh Vicky of Sursingh village who was wanted by the police in the killing of AAP leader Gurpreet Singh Gopi, was injured in an encounter last night. Gurpreet Singh Gopi was shot dead on March 1 near Fatehbad village and Bikramjit Singh Vicky was believed to be the shooter.

SSP Abhimanyu Rana said Vicky was brought on production warrant from Uttar Pradesh. Goindwal Sahib police was taking him to the Mand area to recover the weapon used in the crime to kill Gurpreet Singh Gopi. The SSP said he was taken where the weapon was hidden but it was already loaded with ammunition. He opened fire at the cops. The police opened retaliatory fire in which Vicky was hit in the leg. He was admitted to a hospital in Khadoor Sahib and was later referred to Guru Nanak Dev Hospital, Amritsar.
