GNDU Prof selected for AV Rama Rao prize
Prof Vandana Bhalla of Department of Chemistry, Guru Nanak Dev University, has been selected for the AV Rama Rao Prize for Women by the Chemical Research Society of India (CRSI), Bengaluru, for the year 2025.
The prize carries a cash award of Rs 200,000 and a citation. The award is given to any woman scientist working in India who has made outstanding research contributions in chemical sciencesDr Palwinder Singh, Head, Chemistry Department of the university, said that the award was established in 2023 by Dr AV Rama Rao, former Director of the Indian Institute of Chemical Technology, Hyderabad, Chairman of AV Rama Rao Foundation (AVRF) and founder of the Avra Group. The prize will be given to Prof Vandana Bhalla during the 35th CRSI National Symposium in Chemistry being held at IIT Gandhinagar from July 3-5, 2025. Prof Vandana Bhalla will deliver an award lecture in this symposium. Prof Bhalla has published 215 research papers in international journals of repute.
Earlier, Prof Bhalla was awarded SERB-POWER fellowship, INSA teacher award 2020, Rajib Goyal award, Bhagya-Tara award, Prof SS Sandhu award, bronze medal by CRSI, Thompson Reuter Research Excellence India citation award for 2015 and Shiv Nath Rai Kohli award for her contribution in chemical sciences.
