City MLA Amansher Singh Sherry Kalsi is slowly increasing his political stature by starting public initiatives for the youth in his assembly constituency. Keeping in view the high rate of unemployment, he approached the state government to start skill development courses, particularly for those youngsters who belong to the lower strata of society. These people often find it difficult to continue their education once they have left school. The state government has now allocated Rs 3.25 crore to Kalsi. The MLA has also started an ‘Industrial Visit and Exposure Scheme’ in which the youth are given exposure to various industries. He said that the Punjab government aimed to empower the youth and also boost economic development by providing career-oriented courses. As they say, “Draw countless voters and you are intelligent; help countless constituents and you are wise.”
