A special ‘gurmat samagam’ was organised to commemorate the meet of Bhats (bards) with Guru Sahib at Gurdwara Manji Sahib Diwan Hall at the Golden Temple. Hazuri raagis connected sangat through kirtan.

Giani Ranjit Singh Gohar-e-Maskin, Jathedar of Takht Sri Patna Sahib, and Giani Gurminder Singh, granthi at the Golden Temple, said Bani (holy writings) of Bhats have been recorded in Guru Granth Sahib, therefore, they were highly respected.

The Bhat Youth Welfare Federation, the Bhat Kirat International, the Bhat Sikh Council, the New International Bhat Sikh Council (UK), the Bhat Sikh Ekta Sewa Society (UK), the International Bhat Sikh Community Trust (UK), the Bhat Sikh Organisation Mohalla Kot Baba Deep Singh and other organisations also attended the event.

Office-bearers and members of various organizations associated with Bhats were honoured with siropas. Kulwinder Singh Ramdas, Gurinder Singh Mathrewal and Malkit Singh Beharwal, among others were present. — TNS
