Amritsar rural police have booked designated terrorist Gurpatwant Singh Pannu for promoting enmity between different groups and prevention of insults to national honour.

The case was registered following a complaint lodged by Meghnath alias Vipin Thapar of Nangali village located on the Fatehgarh Churian road here. Though the complaint was submitted in September 2023, an FIR was registered on Thursday following a probe by an SP rank official.

The complainant alleged that Pannu had made objectionable remarks and used derogatory language against the Constitution and insulted the national flag. He alleged that the accused threatened against hoisting the national flag thereby trying to vitiate the peaceful atmosphere of the country by making provoking speeches.

A case under was registered against Pannu at the Kamboh police station.
