With 17 medals in its kitty, the Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU) shooting team has emerged as the highest medal winning team from the border district in the recently concluded Khelo India University Games, held in Rajasthan’s Bharatpur.

Other sports disciplines in which GNDU excelled are fencing (16 medals), cycling (13), Kayaking (7), judo (6), athletics (6), boxing (3), football (2), hockey (1) and archery (1).

Khalsa College Boxing Centre’s Bhupinder Singh won a bronze in the 57-kg event. He is now preparing to participate in the senior nationals, to be held in Noida from December 25, 2025, to January 1, 2026.

Bhupinder had previously bagged a bronze in the All-India University Games, 2024, and a gold in the Youth State Games, 2023.

He has participated in the Youth Nationals in Sikkim, and won a gold in the 60-kg weight category at the Senior State Games, held in Abohar in October this year.

Khalsa College Governing Council’s honorary secretary Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina and Principal Atam Singh Randhawa have congratulated Bhupinder, wishing him well for the upcoming senior nationals.
