In her address, Dr Seema said, “The main objective is to provide preventive and curative care and basic medical services to the residents of the area”. She said the department has appointed a Community Health Officer (CHO) at the centre to screen persons with non-communicable diseases (NCDs).

The Civil Surgeon said non-communicable diseases such as hypertension and diabetes are among major reasons behind major health problems.

SMO Sudhir Arora said, “The patients would get free medical assistance and medicines at the centre and people from nearby villages would be greatly benefited.” He added that over 15 such centres had started functioning at different sites in the block.
