Health Dept begins installation of CCTV cameras, biometric machines at OOAT centres

The Health Department has started installing CCTV cameras and biometric machines at Outpatient Opioid Assisted Treatment (OOAT) centres/clinics in the district to ensure better services for patients coming for drug de-addiction. Speaking during the device installation ceremony at a clinic, Civil Surgeon Dr Kirandeep Kaur said the decision to install these devices was taken to ensure success of war against drugs.

Assistant Commissioner (General) Gursimranjit Kaur said, “These cameras and biometric machines are being installed at all OOAT clinics in the district.” She said patients visiting clinics would have to mark their visit on the biometric machine which would ensure that no there was no pilferage of medicines at the clinic.

She said senior officials would be able to keep a watch and monitor the working at OOAT clinics with the help of CCTV cameras. She said it would save patients from any trouble as long as they were in queues.

Deputy Medical Commissioner Dr Gurmeet Kaur, Dr Charanjit Kaur, Baljit Kaur from Sun Foundation and others were also present on the occasion.
