A student of Bhavans SL School, Bhanvi Bhambri had always been called ‘DC’ by her teachers and family due to her academic diligence and leadership qualities. “Most people in our family used to call her “DC’ and tell her, “Tu Toh DC Banegi \I(You will become DC), due to her authoritative manner and her high IQ. We did not know that her dream would find real meaning one day,” shared Bhanvi’s mother Gauri, who accompanied her to the DC office today.

Bhanvi, who dreams of becoming an administrative officer, plucked up the courage to speak to the Deputy Commissioner of Amritsar, Sakshi Sawhney, on the phone. “She took my phone and called the DC office but was not able to speak with her as DC Sakshi Sawhney was busy. She tried again after a few days and eventually was able to interact with DC Sawhney, who invited her over to the DC complex during her winter break. She was thrilled beyond limits to meet the DC and know what are the responsibilities of an administrative officer,” shared Gauri. Dc Sakshi Sawhney interacted with Bhanvi and explained all the responsibilities of being a Deputy Commissioner for a day as Bhanvi sat on the DC’s chair.

Deputy Commissioner Sawhney has already started this campaign called "I Aspire", where she is inviting students to share their dreams through an interactive portal and will be facilitated by the administration to achieve their goals. She made Bhanvi experience the functioning of DC's office, with video conferences and meetings conducted by the Deputy Commissioner.

Bhanvi shared that her father Ajay Kumar Bhambri runs a cement shop and her mother Gauri is a homemaker. She now wants to pursue her dream of clearing the civil services exam conducted by the UPSC to aim for Indian Administrative Service.
