On the directions of Municipal Commissioner Gulpreet Singh Aulakh, the Municipal Town Planning (MTP) Department carried out a drive against unauthorised constructions in the Central and North Zones of the city. During the drive, illegal buildings located in Bagh Ramanand, Ghiu Mandi, and INA Colony’s Deep Complex were sealed.

The enforcement action was led by Assistant Town Planners Parminderjeet Singh and Varinder Mohan, along with Building Inspector Manish Arora and other municipal staff.

MC Commissioner Gulpreet Singh Aulakh said that the MTP Department has been issued strict instructions not to tolerate any form of unauthorised construction in the city. He warned that strict legal action will be taken against violators.In the Central Zone, an under-construction hotel was found without approved building plans, which is a clear violation of municipal laws. Although prior notices had been served to the owners, construction work continued, prompting the sealing of the premises.

Similarly, in the North Zone’s INA Colony Deep Complex, a commercial building was being constructed without the required approvals. The department has sealed this building as well.

The MC Commissioner said that if any builder resumes work despite the sealing, an FIR will be registered against them. He also appealed to residents to get building plans approved by the municipal corporation before initiating any
