Implant helps repair damaged leg bone

Amandeep Hospital, in association with Ujala Cygnus, has achieved a major medical breakthrough by successfully performing a one-of-its-kind surgery in the world - the reconstruction of a severely damaged upper leg bone using a specially designed, custom-made implant.

The 71-year-old patient had been struggling for over a decade after an accident in 2012. His leg bone (tibia) was first treated with a metal plate, but it later broke again and got infected, forcing doctors to remove the implant. Over the years, he lived with pain, deformity and

difficulty in walking due to the bone not healing properly and the leg becoming shorter.

Amandeep Hospital's expert team planned a unique surgery using a custom-built implant made specially to match the patient's leg structure. This helped to rebuild the damaged bone, restore the correct leg length and alignment, and bring back stability and strength.

After the surgery, the patient experienced remarkable relief from pain and was able to move comfortably again.
