Jandiala to get STP in 18 months, says ETO

A new sewage treatment plant (STP) at Jandiala town would be commissioned in next 18 months as the tender process for it has begun, said PWD and Power Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO during the inauguration of various works on Saturday.

The minister said Jandiala Municipal Council has already purchased two acres of land for the STP which would be set up at a cost of Rs 25 crore.

Harbhajan Singh said tenders of Rs 4.26 crore have also been approved for development works in Jandiala Guru, covering approximately 25 streets. “A total of eight development projects, including those in various wards and market places with a total expenditure of Rs 2.33 crore have been inaugurated today”, said the minister while assuring that all these projects would be completed within three months and emphasised that no laxity in development works would be tolerated.

Addressing the gathering, the Cabinet Minister reiterated the government’s commitment to providing employment opportunities. He claimed that approximately 50,000 people have been employed during the government’s two and a half years tenure. “On Monday, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann will distribute appointment letters to 1,300 more youth in the Punjab State Power Corporation Limitedat Chandigarh”, he added.

Taking a dig at the Opposition, the minister said the government is focused on development politics and will continue to prioritise development.
