Vansh Sharma, who plays in the 80 kg category, has been selected for the senior nationals after winning the first position in the Senior State Boxing Championship held in Abohar.
Vansh secured 79 per cent marks in 10 2 Arts exam conducted by the PSEB. An international pugilist, he participated in the Youth World Cup last year. He topped in State School Games this year and participated in the recently concluded National School Games.
Bhupinder Singh, who plays in the 60 kg category, has been selected for the senior nationals after winning first position in the Senior State Boxing Championship held in Abohar. Earlier, he won a bronze medal in the All India Inter-University Tournament 2023-24.
Bikramjit Singh, who plays in over 90-kg category, has qualified for the senior nationals after winning first position in the Senior State Boxing Championship held in Abohar. Earlier, he played the senior nationals in 2019.
Khalsa College Boxing Centre coach Baljinder Singh informed that four boxers from his centre, Mokhak Dawar, Shubhbir Lal, Chahat and Manas, are playing in the School Nationals in the Under-17 category at Itanagar (Arunachal Pradesh), which will conclude on November 3.
Maukhik Dawar, who plays in the 54 kg category, is a gold medallist in the School State Games held in Patiala. He has reached the pre-quarter final in School Nationals being played in Arunachal Pradesh.
Shubhbir Lal, who plays in the 50 kg category, is a gold medallist in the School State Games held in Patiala. He has reached quarter-final in the School Nationals in Arunachal Pradesh.
Chahat, who plays in the 48 kg category, won a gold medal in the School State Games held in Patiala
and participated in the School Nationals in Arunachal Pradesh.
Manas, who plays in the 60 kg category, a gold medallist in the School State Games held in Patiala, has reached pre-quarter final in the School Nationals being held in Arunachal Pradesh.
In addition, Navroop Singh and Varundeep Singh also performed well in their championships.
Navroop Singh, who plays in the 70 kg category, won second position in the Senior State Boxing Championship held in Abohar. Earlier, he played the nationals in 2023-24.
Varundeep Singh, who plays in the 65 kg category, won second position in the Senior State Boxing Championship held in Abohar.
Congratulating the winning players of Boxing Centre, Khalsa College Principal Dr Inderjit Singh Gogoani and Sports Head Rankirat Singh said that it is very important to motivate children to take up sports along with studies.
They credited boxing coach Baljinder Singh for the success saying that he has brought fame to Khalsa College Boxing Centre with his hard work and has also given good players to his state and country.
