Amritsar: The property tax wing of the Municipal Corporation has asked city residents to pay their pending property tax by Wednesday and avail themselves of the benefit of one-time settlement scheme offered by the state government. Tax payers will get 10 per cent rebate if they pay by Wednesday, after which, they will have to pay 140 per cent penalty on the pending amount. The government had exempted penalty and interest on the tax amount three months ago. Pardeep Rajput, nodal officer (property tax), said: “We will get 140 per cent penalty on the pending tax and 10 per cent penalty on the current tax. A separate camp will be organised near Gopal Mandir Majitha Road area.” TNS

3-day Trade Fair from Feb 28

Amritsar: Seventy stalls will showcase locally manufactured and produced products during the three-day trade fair to be held at ITI, Ranjit Avenue, from February 28. The fair will be jointly organised by the state and the Union Government to encourage ‘Made in Amritsar’ products. Deputy Commissioner Shivdular Singh Dhillon said local products such as brass wares, textile such as shawls, suits, shirts, blankets, organic products and others would be available at the fair. Products prepared by inmates of Pingalwara and prisoners of the Central Jail would also be put on sale. TNS

117 students honoured

Amritsar: The SGPC Dharam Parchar Committee on Tuesday honoured 117 students who made it to the merit list of the examination conducted by the committee in 2018. The students were given a cash prize of Rs2,100 each for scoring more than 80 per cent in the exam, which is conducted to encourage and create awareness about the religion. TNS
