Lawyer booked in rape case

The local city police have booked a practicing lawyer in a rape case involving a teenage girl on Wednesday. The accused has been identified as Gurnam Singh, a resident of Golden Avenue.
The statement of the victim’s father was recorded by Sub Inspector Kiranpal Kaur. The victim’s father stated that the accused attempted to marry the victim by creating a fake Aadhaar card that showed the victim as being of legal age, based on forged documents.

The city police reported that a case has been registered under sections 96, 137, 351(2), and 64 of the BNS, as well as under Section 6 of the POCSO Act. The accused has been taken into police custody.
