Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab chief spokesperson and MLA Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal launched a sharp attack on SAD chief Sukhbir Badal and party leader Bikram Singh Majithia after the Punjab and Haryana High Court rejected Majithia’s bail plea.

While addressing media here after the court rejected the bail plea of the senior SAD leader, Dhaliwal called the development a major setback for the Akali Dal. He said that the “little-bit left” Akali Dal, led by Sukhbir Badal, must have felt a severe shock upon hearing this news. The court also stated that the evidence presented by the police was ‘serious’.

“Leaders of the Akali Dal and Majithia’s supporters were repeatedly making noise that the Bhagwant Mann government was indulging in political vendetta and high-handedness. Today, the high court has endorsed the government’s action by asserting that the charges against Majithia are valid,” he said.

He stated that evidence of transactions worth Rs 540 crore was presented in the court. After a detailed 15-day-long hearing, the court delivered this verdict. Dhaliwal said the Akalis always try to hide behind the same excuse of “political vendetta”, but today the truth stood exposed.

Dhaliwal expressed regret that the previous governments, including SAD and later Congress “chacha-bhatija” government, allowed this business to continue fearlessly. On a dramatic note, Dhaliwal said that, “Majithia is now reaping what he sowed. “When punishment is finally handed down in this case, thousands of mothers who lost their sons to drugs will get some peace,” he said.

Dhaliwal said that because of the drug terror, parents were forced to send their children abroad, which brain drained Punjab and accelerated migration. “Today, the country’s judicial system has rekindled hope among the people. Influential individuals like Majithia, who once claimed that “no one can touch us”, are now caught in the clutches of the law,” said Dhaliwal.
