Man arrested for molesting minor

The Sarhali police have arrested a 58-year-old person on the charge of molesting a five-year-old girl.

Inspector Narinder Kaur recorded the statement of the girl’s mother and registered a case under section 65 (2) and 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act on Wednesday. The accused has been identified as Ranbir Singh.

Inspector Narinder Kaur, on the basis of the victim’s mother’s statement, said that the girl had gone to a shop near their house on Wednesday evening. The girl failed to return home and her mother along with other women relatives went to the shop to locate her but she could not be found. They then went to the residential portion of the shop. They were taken aback to find the accused molesting the minor girl. The girl’s mother and her relatives raised the alarm and people from nearby areas apprehended the accused and handed him over to the police.

It may be mentioned that about 15 years back, a case regarding the sexual abuse of a three-year-old girl had been reported from the area.
