The cyber cell of city police booked Somdev Sharma, vice-chairman of Bada Hanuman temple for allegedly making derogatory remarks against veteran BJP leader and Durgiana Temple Management Committee president Lakshmi Kanta Chawla.

The incident had occurred in September-end. Chawla had lodged a complaint with the Punjab State Women's Commission and submitted an audio recording of the same. The commission forwarded the complaint to city police for necessary action while asking Amritsar Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar to submit a report in this regard.

Following a preliminary investigation, the cyber cell registered a case under the IT Act and BNS in this regard. —
