A minor altercation over the wrong parking of a car took an ugly turn when a man fired at another person leaving him injured in the posh Ranjit Avenue area here on Sunday evening. The injured was identified as Talbir Singh. He was taken to the hospital while the accused fled the scene.
The police have booked the assaulter, identified as Dilawar Singh of the Holy City area on Amritsar-Attari bypass road, and his unknown accomplice on the charge of attempt to murder and relevant sections of the Arms Act.
Amandeep Singh, a friend of the victim, told the police that he, along with his cousin and friends, came to C-Block of Ranjit Avenue on a car. He said they stopped for meal outside an eatery joint. He said in the meanwhile another car came on the scene. He said two occupants of the car started abusive language saying that the complainants had parked the car in the middle of the road.
He said as they were trying to say that they would move the car, one of the occupants fired at them with his pistol. He said his brother Talbir Singh was injured due to gunshot while the accused fled. One of the suspects was later identified as Dilawar Singh.
