The police have arrested one of the suspected attackers, while around 10 others have been named in the case.
The injured, identified as 48-year-old Dilbagh Singh, claimed the attack was linked not to personal rivalry but to his opposition to drug peddling in the area. He alleged that the accused were involved in the drug trade and targeted him because he used to confront them.
Based on his complaint, the police have booked David Masih, Samual Masih, Gaza, Raju, Karan, Deepu, Gora, Jasbir Singh, Raja and Karam — all residents of Wadala Bhitewad — under Sections 109, 191(3) and 190 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with relevant sections of the Arms Act.
Dilbagh stated that he was parking his car (PB-02-DP-2835) when the accused surrounded him. He alleged that David Masih fired at him, with the bullet hitting his left shoulder. He was rushed to Guru Nanak Dev Hospital, where he is currently undergoing treatment.
Ajaypal Singh, SHO, Kamboh police station, said that one of the accused, Karan, has been arrested, while others are absconding. Efforts are on to trace and nab them, he added.
