Man succumbs to injuries after being hit by vehicle in Tarn Taran

Dharamjit Singh, cousin of the victim, stated here on Thursday that Sarabjit Singh was going down National Highway No.54 near his village when an unidentified vehicle (a car) going from the Tarn Taran side to Patti town hit him, leaving him seriously injured.
The car driver put him into the car and took him towards Patti city. They threw Sarabjit Singh on the roadside near Kairon village in an injured condition and managed to flee the spot.
On receiving information about the incident, the family members rushed him to a nearby hospital. He was admitted to the Community Health Centre (CHC), Kairon, from where the doctors referred him to the Civil Hospital, Tarn Taran, keeping in view his critical condition. He succumbed to his injuries at the Civil Hospital on Wednesday.
Sub-Inspector Avtar Singh, SHO, Sadar police station, said a case has been registered in this regard under Sections 186 and 115 (2) of the BNS.
The deceased was cremated at the village cremation ground. Paramjit Singh, former sarpanch, and other residents, have demanded to identify and arrest the car driver at the earliest and take strict action against the accused.
