Harpreet Singh alias Happy (36), who had mistakenly taken some poisonous medicine at his home four days back, died on Tuesday during treatment at a private hospital in the city.

The deceased is survived by his wife and a three-year-old daughter and two sons, aged eight and 10 years. Gurjit Kaur, widow of the deceased, said that her husband took some poisonous medicine on June 29.

As soon as the family came to know of it, he was admitted to a private hospital in Tarn Taran from where he was shifted to a private hospital in Amritsar where he died on Tuesday. Sub-inspector Balwinder Singh, in-charge of Naushehra Pannuan police post, said here today that on the basis of the statement of Gurjit Kaur, widow of the deceased, a daily diary report (DDR) has been lodged under section 194 of BNSS.

The postmortem was conducted on Wednesday and the cremation took place today in his native village.
