Miscreants decamp with purse containing jewellery worth Rs 11L

Unscrupulous elements decamped with cash and gold jewellery worth around Rs 11 lakh from a wedding function. The incident occurred at LD Garden located on Airport Road three days ago.
The police have been analysing the footage of CCTV cameras to find clues about the perpetrators. A case has been registered in this connection. The mobile phone of the victim was found in a garbage dump later on.
The complainant, Sarabjit Singh, told the police that he along with his family had gone to attend a marriage function of his nephew Atinderbir Singh at LD Garden on Airport Road. He said at around 5pm, all the family members were taking meal and his sister-in-law Jagdeep Kaur kept her purse near his feet. After having meal, she found the purse missing.
She had kept Rs 2.50 lakh cash, shagan amount to the tune of Rs 5.50 lakh, an iPhone, gold jewellery worth Rs 2.90 lakh, besides other documents in it. Some unknown persons stole it from under the table. During investigation and tracing the location of the phone, her phone was found in a garbage bin near Mahan Singh Gate.
The police have registered a case under Sections 379 and 411 of the IPC in this connection. The police said further investigations were in progress.
