National Postal Week is being celebrated across the country from October 7 to 11 by the Department of Post. Praveen Prasoon, Senior Superintendent, Post Office, Amritsar Mandal, said the department was established on October 1, 1854, which is why National Postal Week is celebrated every year in October.

During the week, according to the services of the postal department, various activities will be organised in which World Postal Day, Financial Empowerment Day, Philately Day, Mail and Parcel Day, Antyodaya Diwas, etc, are prominent. “During this week, the Department of Post, Amritsar PLI, at various places, RPLI, savings bank and Aadhaar card related camp will be organised.

Besides, a seminar will also be organiszed at the Amritsar head post office on October 8 in which schoolchildren will be made aware of functioning of the department and stamps. The seminar will be organised on October 7 at the Postal Export Centre located at the head post office, Rialto Chowk. Business parcels and all other parcels to be sent abroad are treated on a priority basis at the Post Export Centre.
