NCC cadet of DAV attends Air Force Attachment Camp in Hyderabad

Amritsar, January 11

Prabhjot Kaur, a student of local DAV College, attended the attachment camp of NCC Air Wing at Air Force Academy (AFA), Dundigal (Hyderabad). A total of 51 NCC cadets across the country attended the camp. During the camp, cadets were exposed to intensive training activities, which included both outdoor and classroom lectures.

She was the only NCC cadet from Punjab, who was the part of this attachment camp.

She briefed that the cadets were exposed to hands-on training and experience in field craft, PT, parade and yoga during the outdoor training. Classroom lectures were also conducted on various topics like history of Indian Air Force (IAF), precautionary measures of flying training, the role of air traffic control, meteorology and navigation in aviation. In addition, general topics such as first-aid procedure, fire-fighting and the selection process in the IAF are also being covered.

Prabhjot, who is a student of BSc IT (semester V) at DAV College, wants to pursue a career in armed forces and she shared that her experience at the camp gave her the necessary confidence to pursue that dream. “No one in my family is in the armed forces and I want to be the first to do so. My parents support me in this dream,” she said.

Group Captain of 2 PB Air Squadron Manoj Kumar Vats, a mentor for NCC cadets, also congratulated Prabhjot Kaur for this achievement. He shared that Prabhjot was given exposure to aviation activities by visiting various sections of the station, which included a visit to flying faculty, meteorology section, fire section and air traffic control.

The attachment camp of the NCC, with cadets drawn from all over India, was planned with a view to provide an insight into the functioning of the Indian Air Force and to motivate them to join the service.

Today, Prabhjot was received at her college by Principal Amardeep Gupta and NCC officer Sanjiv Dutta, who applauded her efforts and wished her for a bright and prosperous future.
