Akal Takht secretariat officials said Lalpura submitted a written apology today while admitting his mistake of making remarks at an event held at a college on September 5. The SGPC had taken cognisance of Lalpura’s remarks reportedly terming Guru Nanak Dev as an avatar of Lord Vishnu.

Earlier, SGPC president Harjinder Singh Dhami had approached Akal Takht to initiate action against him as he had made fabricated rhetoric against the principles of Sikh faith and the ideology of the holy Gurbani, which was in contrast to the uniqueness of the Sikh community and its originality.
