Police have arrested an operative of gangster Harpreet Singh Baba after an encounter near Rohi in Tarn Taran on Monday night.

The accused identified as Jodhbir Singh alias Jodha of Aladeenpur village, sustained a bullet injury in his left leg in retaliatory fire by the police, said Tarn Taran SSP Abhimanyu Rana.

He was intercepted at a naka near Rohi village when he allegedly fired gunshots at a police party.

Jodha was wanted by the police in a couple of criminal cases, including a ransom-related firing incident at a businessman's house on November 5. A 9mm Glock Pistol was also recovered from his possession, the SSP said.

A total of six operatives of gangster Harpreet Baba was arrested by the police recently, he added.
