Partition era film starring Sunny Deol, son Karan being shot in city

Actors Sunny Deol and his son Karan Deol have been filming their upcoming period drama Lahore 1947 in Amritsar over the past few days. The film, reportedly adapted from Asghar Wajahat’s acclaimed play Jis Lahore Nai Dekhya, O Jamyai Nai, is based on the Partition of 1947.

The celebrated play, titled after a popular Punjabi saying meaning “He who has not seen Lahore, has not been born,” explores the communal and political sensibilities of the people of Lahore and the deep bond between Lahore and Amritsar—twin cities separated by history and borders.

Karan Deol had earlier shared a picture from Khalsa College on Instagram, announcing the project. A source close to the production revealed that this would be a high-action drama, reuniting Sunny and Karan on screen after their collaboration on Karan’s debut film Pal Pal Dil Ke Paas.

The film is reportedly directed by Rajkumar Santoshi and produced by Aamir Khan. The cast also includes Preity Zinta, Abhimanyu Singh and others.

Sunny Deol and Rajkumar Santoshi have previously delivered several blockbusters together, including Ghayal, Ghatak and Damini. Portions of the film were shot at Khasa and Attari railway stations, known for their old-world charm, as well as other locations across the city.
