Patwaris of the state Revenue Department held a protest against the state government over abolition of 1,056 posts of patwari at the District Administrative Complex here today. They also submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister through the DC.

Besides, the protesters burnt copies of the letter issued by the Revenue Department in this regard.

Patwaris from different parts of the district gathered at the DAC and condemned the state government.

Sukhpreet Singh Pannu, national leader of the patwaris, and Sarabjit Singh Sandhu, district president of the union, were among those who addressed the protesters on the occasion.
