The CIA staff have arrested a drug peddler identified as Hardip Singh, a resident of Paris Avenue, Chheharta, and recovered 400 gm of heroin and a digital scale from his possession. The police have registered a case under various sections of the NDPS Act against him. Kamaljit Singh, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), said the suspect was arrested from Paris Avenue in Chheharta when he was supplying drug to an unknown person.

Investigation revealed that the suspect had received drug from Sandeep Singh, a resident of the Guru Ki Wadali area. He was yet to be arrested. The ACP said, besides Hardip Singh, the police also nominated Sandeep Singh in the FIR and efforts were on to nab him.

He said the suspect was produced in a court and brought on police remand for further investigation. The ACP said more arrests were likely to be made during further probe.
