Four days after busting an interstate organised crime syndicate with the arrest of five persons, the city police have arrested two more members involved in the racket.
They were identified as Govid (29) of Nalagarh in Himachal Pradesh and Sanjiv Kumar (45) of Kot Khalsa here. The police seized a pistol and 10 bullets from their possession. Govind runs a sweet shop in Nalagarh.
Earlier, the police had arrested Jai Sharma, alias Sukha Ambarsaria (20), of Prem Nagar in Kot Khalsa, Nikhil Sharma (19) of 88-foot road, Mohini (21) of Inderpuri, Kot Khalsa, Karan Sharma (20) and Arpit Thakur (21) of Bilaspur (HP). The police had seized two pistols, three magazines and eight rounds from their possession at that time.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Harpreet Singh said they used to procure weapons from other states at cheaper rates and later sold these to criminal elements at higher rates. Sukha Pistol or Sukha Ambarsaria was the kingpin of the racket and they were planning to attack rival gangs in the city.
He said duo Govind and Sanjiv Kumar were arrested on Wednesday after the disclosure made by five accused arrested earlier.
Jai Sharma has six criminal cases registered against him while Nikhi Sharma and Mohini have two cases each registered against them. Sanjiv had one criminal case registered against him at Islamabad here.
A case under Section 111 (Organised Crime), Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, and Section 25 (7) of the Arms Act was registered against them.
