Police, BSF arrest one with over 1.5 kg of heroin

The Border Security Force (BSF) and Khalra police arrested a person with 1.517 kg of heroin during a joint operation conducted at Wan Tarasingh village late on Monday night. The consignment was brought from Pakistan. Two of the associates of the arrested smugglers escaped with heroin brought from across the border.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Bhikhiwind, Preetinder Singh said that the arrested smuggler has been identified as Daya Singh, a resident of Wan Tarasingh village. The police officer said that the absconders include Manbir Singh and Dharminder Singh, residents of the same Wan Tarasingh village. Manbir Singh is a nephew of Daya Singh. DSP Preetinder Singh said that when the police noticed the movement of the drone from the Pakistani side, action was taken. The cops and BSF personnel led by sub-inspector Sahib Singh of Khalra police station arrested Daya Singh along with the heroin. His accomplices fled from the spot.

Daya Singh had brought the narcotic substance from Pakistan through drone. The police have registered a case in this regard under sections 21-C, 29, 61 and 85 of the NDPS Act along with sections 10, 11 and 12 of the Aircraft Act.
