Police conduct search op at Chabal village

The police also engaged with residents to raise awareness about the harmful effects of drugs and to seek their cooperation in making society drug free.
The village had recently come under controversy due to allegations that drugs were easily available in the area. Inspector Paramjit Singh Virdi, SHO, said that as part of the intensified crackdown on drugs, eight FIRs (criminal cases) were registered and five individuals were arrested and sent to jail. He added that 36 drug addicts have been admitted to the government Drug De-addiction and Rehabilitation Centre at Tharu for treatment.
The SHO said that one Harpal Singh Bhalla of the village has been arrested with 13 gm of Heroin on Saturday and has been booked under NDPS act .
