Thought-provoking Opinions, Expert Analysis, In-depth Insights and other Member Only BenefitsAfter the video of a teacher at District PM Shri Havildar Ajit Singh Government Senior Secondary School (Boys) engaging in indecent acts with a boy during school hours went viral and the matter was prominently highlighted in the media, the department has taken action and suspended the services of the teacher, but the Khemkaran police could not identify the accused till today. The police registered a case under the POCSO Act six days ago on the basis of the statements of sub-inspector Balbir Singh against an unknown person.
The district police has transferred the police station head Balbir Singh to a nearby police station to avoid any controversy in the matter. The matter might not have come to light if the issue had not been brought to the notice of the Child Protection Department and the District and Sessions Judge.
Despite the uproar regarding the matter, the police have not been able to arrest the accused till date. SSP Ravjot Grewal and DSP Preet Singh did not respond to repeated attempts made to contact them. There has been speculation that the matter is being suppressed by a powerful lobby in Khemkaran.
