Police seize heroin, arrest two women, both wives of accused

A team of the local CIA staff, in a raid conducted in Bhai Ladhu village falling under Patti Sadar police station on Monday, arrested two women who were wives of the same man and recovered 2. 516 kg of heroin. The police also seized cash in Indian currency which was drug money.

DSP (Investigation) Sukhbir Singh, who was heading the police team, said that the accused have been identified as Baljinder Kaur and Manpreet Kaur. Harpreet Singh, husband of the accused, managed to escape from the spot. The DSP said that upon receiving the information, he informed a police team about drug consignment.

The police added that the accused had direct contacts with Pakistan-based smugglers with whose help they had been taking drug supply in one way or the other. The arrested accuseds were produced in court here today which sent them to three days of police remand. The police is investigating their contacts, said the DSP. The police is also conducting raids on the possible hideouts of Harpeet Singh.
