The districtrict Health Department here released awareness posters and banners during an event organised as part of the hepatitis fortnight to spread awareness among the people about the disease.

Speaking on this occasion, Civil Surgeon Dr Sumeet Singh said hepatitis could be completely cured with the help of advanced medicines. He said early diagnosis of the disease could help in managing it more easily as compared to advanced stages.

The districtrict health department has organised various events as part of the fortnight till August 10.

Health experts stated that hepatitis had been categorised into five sections, namely A, B, C, D, and E. While there is a vaccine for A and B categories of the disease, the other categories are treated through medicines.

Epidemiologist Navdeep Kaur said new borns must be immunised against the disease. — TNS
