Pramod Kumar has assumed the additional charge of General Manager at the Rail Coach Factory (RCF), Kapurthala. He will continue in his role as Principal Chief Administrative Officer (PCAO) of Patiala Locomotive Works. A graduate in electrical engineering from Nagpur University, Kumar is a 1986-batch officer of the Indian Railway Service of Electrical Engineers (IRSEE). He has played a significant role in various railway electrification projects, notably in Bhopal in 1990.

In November 2017, Kumar spearheaded the installation of a 5 KW solar panel system at New Delhi railway station, which powered the overhead equipment and earned the Railways the 'Best Use of Zero-Carbon Technology Award' at the International Sustainable Railway Awards in 2022. Kumar has previously held key positions, including Chief Electrical Design Engineer at RCF.

On his arrival at RCF, he was warmly welcomed by senior officials and chaired a meeting to discuss coach production and innovation. His appointment is seen as a step towards enhancing the quality and quantity of rail coach manufacturing.
