The Punjab Government is ready to accelerate and make alternative arrangements to provide jobs to the youth under its flagship door-to-door employment scheme despite the Covid-19 pandemic. Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh directed the Department of Employment Generation and Training to take all necessary steps to provide counselling and jobs to the youth of the state keeping in view the special circumstances.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Ranveer Singh Moodhal on Saturday said the department had made arrangements to provide online counselling and placement opportunities to job seekers in the state. He further said due to the crisis created by the Covid-19 pandemic, alternative arrangements would have to be made to provide employment to the youth through skill-based training.

The department is organising a seminar on ‘Challenges and Opportunities in Jobs after Covid-19’ on July 24 to create awareness about the emerging employment opportunities in various sectors so that the industry can prepare itself for employment according to the needs of the changed scenario. The webinar will invite the youth from the engineering, management, medicine, pharmacy, humanities fields and general graduates like BCA, BBA, B Com, etc.
